While it isn't officially supported, we have many users who successfully run NewsBin under Linux with a Windows emulator (Wine is the most popular). This forum exists for you Linux guys to share your experience getting NewsBin running on Linux as well as report any strangeness that we may or may not be able to fix. DThor is the resident expert.

Last week I've switched my last computer to Debian and I was surprised to hear that NewsBin and wine works together! Everything works perfect except the thumbnail tab. Is there any solution to make also this last piece of Newsbin work with wine?
Maybe this shell message will help someone to solve:
- Code: Links not allowed for unregistered users
fixme:ntdll:FILE_GetNtStatus Converting errno 19 to STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL
err:virtual:NtMapViewOfSection map_file_into_view 0x3380000 2b000 000000000 failed

Interesting, I'm pretty sure thumbnails worked for me on SUSE, and I don't have a lot of stuff installed in the wine bottle. I'll take a look at the latest when I'm back on linux. Btw, you'll probably notice that the progress bar(the coloured boxes) under the download tab don't work either. If they do work I'd love to know about it!
Not using an NTFS partition, are you, along with ntfs-3g to write to it?

Yeah, that looks like a file system problem memory mapping a file.

Just verified that thumbnails work fine here on SUSE. I seriously doubt the distribution makes a difference, though. Offhand the file system looks like it might be the culprit(try running everything off your linux partition), and also, I assume you're running 24 bit on your desktop?

Yes, I used a mounted ntfs-g3 partition for saving my files. When I select a ext3 partition the thumbnails do appear!
So I have to clear the partition and reformat it to the Linux format... (That will be nasty)
Nevertheless, thanks for the solution!

BTW the "Current Progress" bar does work for me

Hoo-ah! Thanks for that info. You prompted me to upgrade wine and the progress bars are back!
