Problem with vanilla wine on suse 10.1

While it isn't officially supported, we have many users who successfully run NewsBin under Linux with a Windows emulator (Wine is the most popular). This forum exists for you Linux guys to share your experience getting NewsBin running on Linux as well as report any strangeness that we may or may not be able to fix. DThor is the resident expert.

Problem with vanilla wine on suse 10.1

Postby wiredog » Tue Feb 20, 2007 2:32 pm

Hi

I have followed the tutorial and installed newsbin on suse 10.1

It install worked flawlessly but when I try to run it I get the following errors:

Code: Select all
wine: Call from 0x401e8b39 to unimplemented function msvcrt.dll.__CxxFrameHandler3, aborting
err:seh:setup_exception stack overflow 716 bytes in thread 0009 eip 400acd80 esp 405e0d34 stack 0x405e1000-0x406f0000

I have copied msvcrt.dll from my vista install where newsbin runs perfecly.

Any clues on how to proceed?

First guess would be that vista is too new. I'm unaware of wine being able to work happily with vista dlls. Try those files from an XP install if you can find it.

studpid me, I should have thought of that.

I got the files from my XP laptop and now newsbin works perfectly (Except for the message of the day but that is not neccesery).
