Syntax for including Accented Characters?

Postby acanthis » Thu Jul 22, 2004 2:22 am

Help!

In 4.32 Build 4964 what is the syntax in a regular expression (used as part a filter profile) to include an accented character? I didn't think there was anything special in regexp syntax for this, apart from perhaps escaping them or bounding them in sqaure brackets, but Newsbin seems to think otherwise.

For example, if I create this subject filter:

WôñdéR WóMâñ

it works for the session, but the next time I restart Newsbin and load the filters I find that Newsbin has decided to change it to

W__d_R W_M__

which, not surprisingly, doesn't work.

I assume some new special escape character was introduced in 4.3 that hasn't made it to the documentation yet. Can anyone help with this? It's especially important given the increasing tendency for people to mangle the names of their postings.

It's a bug. I verified it exists in version 4.32 as well. I'll add it to our bug list.
