Download to folder named for subject - missing digits

Postby Swede1 » Sun Oct 20, 2019 6:03 am

Using NB : 6.82B9

I can't seem to figure out why numbers get removed in the folder name when selecting a set of files and choosing
"Download to folder named for subject".

For example when multiple sets of images are posted and you want to sort them into a folder named to include the set number,

I select the following subject headings in a group

Cars Set 1 - [01/10] "Car 1.jpg" yEnc
Cars Set 1 - [02/10] "Car 2.jpg" yEnc
Cars Set 1 - [03/10] "Car 3.jpg" yEnc
Cars Set 1 - [04/10] "Car 4.jpg" yEnc
Cars Set 1 - [05/10] "Car 5.jpg" yEnc
etc.

I right-click and choose "Download to folder named for subject"
The files are sorted into a folder BUT the folder gets named "Car Set".
Same thing happens if I select only one file, the number in the subject is removed from the folder name.

If you look at the subject in the post body of one of the files it is:
Subject: Cars Set 1 - [01/10] - "Cars 1.JPG" yEnc (1/1)

You could try using "RAWSUBJECT". It goes through less cleaning. I can't say it does exactly what you want bit its worth a try.

Tried adding it to the download path, so in the settings it now reads:
Setup -> Main download folder : Z:\$(RAWSUBJECT)\

Using the example above it does create a folder "Z:\Cars Set 1" but it also creates a subfolder to that folder, where the images end up, i.e. "Z:\Cars Set 1\Cars Set\"

I guess I can live with that.

You should upgrade to RC1. I believe that's fixed already.

I'm now at RC1 (6.82)
and noticed the side effect (prob not because of RC1) that if you specify "RAWSUBJECT" and DON*T select "Download to a folder named for subject", a sub directory is created anyway witht the files in it, expecting the files to be in the root of the dowload path.
If I don't add "RAWSUBJECT" it's back to square one in RC1, i.e. the digit is stripped out in the folder name.

"Download to folder named for Subject" bypasses the download folder setting in the options. It takes the download folder and adds a subject to it for all the selected files. So it doesn't matter if you use "RAWSUBJECT" in the options, then use "..Named for Subject".

I gave you bad information. RAWSUBJECT isn't beneficial for that mode. On the other hand, if you don't use "download to folder named for subject" but do use RAWSUBJECT, the folder is created anyway.

That means that you can't download files to the root, it will always be a sub directory created if you use "RAWSUBJECT". But I guess I can live with that.

You can setup "Per Group" or "Per Topic" download folders too. Look in the group properties.
