Version 6.80 Beta 13 Available...

Postby dexter » Mon Dec 11, 2017 6:26 pm

Next one will be a Release Candidate. A few more changes and then we are going to feature freeze and get ready for the production release. Here is a summary of changes for B13:

Summary:
  • Fixed issue with encrypted files not unraring.
  • Fixed issue where the last file in a zip file containing multiple files was unzipping.
  • Added "Nzbs" folder to data folder purge cycle.
  • Added recursive folder removal to data folder purge cycle.
  • Added new compaction logic to better handle obfuscated post sets in NZB files.
  • Fixed issue with loaded NZB files not getting purged

Full change history and the download link is on the Newsbin Beta Page.

If you find any issues, please reply to this thread or use our Technical Support Contact Form.

Must be having a bad week with Newsbin. Since updating to B13, every time I open the program it now defaults to the Search Tab. Previously it always has since day one opened up showing the Groups List as default.

If I go back to B12, Newsbin opens to the default Groups List as is normal. Installed B13 again and when opening, defaults back to Search window again. Any ideas?

I suspect this might be a "feature was just an accident" thing. I make no effort to select a specific tab on startup. I've not changed anything at all in this area recently. I do have a report that the servers tab is closing between restarts so, I guess it could be related to that.

Hi,
problem with downloading a single rar from within a grouped obfuscated post. I wanted to download the first of 48 rars to then open it up and see what it was and other properties (resolution/sound track etc).

I have an nzb, load it using Load NZB, loads ok as a grouped set of obfuscated posts. I expand out the rolled -up post and download the first rar.
This downloads ok then I get a zero length file being created in the download list, with the following in the debug log:

[12/12 21:22:04] DEBUG CheckFilename: Using Path:F:\DL\_NZBs\<nzb-name>\
[12/12 21:22:04] DEBUG Spooler: Using Path:F:\DL\_NZBs\<nzb-name>\
[12/12 21:22:04] DEBUG First Filename:F:\DL\_NZBs\<nzb-name>\<obfuscated-name>.part01.rar
[12/12 21:22:04] DEBUG UnRAR Temp: F:\DC\<nzb-name>\SearchList\a.b.chello\ UnRAR Filename: F:\DL\_NZBs\<nzb-name>\<obfuscated-name>.part01.rar

I tried downloading the first file to a new folder, hoping to be able to find the d/l file, but it (and the new folder) are deleted after the unrar.

How do I get a single file from a rolled-up/grouped obfuscated post to inspect the contents before deciding whether to download or not?

If I try to download the whole file, it downloads and extracts ok.

I know that this used to work a few betas ago, but the above problem occurs in B12 & B13.

regards
Stavros.

It is the Thumbnails tab in my installation of v6.80B13 Build 5004 which is closing between restarts. This behavior started with the installation of that build.

The usual lineup of tabs, from left to right, is Downloading Files, Failed Files, Logging, Files List and Thumbnails.

Of Newsbin's data files, only Guitems.db3 file is located in the C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Newsbin\ folder. All of the other data files are located on a separate drive in the folder D:\Newsbin Data\

Having a problem on right-clicking and selecting Download to Folder named for Subject, say a group of files i want to download subject is ajaaa.ajjaa.set5551 and the next set would be the same except it would be 5552 as the only thing changed, but it's downloading files to folders without the last set of numbers, it goes to a folder called ajaaa.ajjaa.set so the actual next 5552 group would go into the same folder instead of it's own seperately named folder including the 5552.
I've even set the $(SUBJECT) into the main download path after group but doing a normal download is still cuts the last set of numbers off, it doesnt matter what the subject is, if it has ending numbers it cuts it off. Anyway i can fix this on my end for the path to include the full subject?
And yes, it used to download correctly named folders named for subject, idk if something changed on my end or what.

Edit: also getting that server tab closed on restart as well.

Yeah, the subject is cleaned before use and one of the things that's cleaned out is numbers. I'll write a note to think about it. Are these real subjects I can search for?

Would anyone know where my loaded NZB files (And also anything in a compressed file!) are going?

They used to be moved into a /Loaded sub folder but lately they just seem to vanish!

They are going to the ‘NZBs’ sub-folder within the Newsbin data folder.

Got em!

Thanks itimpi, is there a way to stop it snatching compressed files that don't contain NZB files?

B13 shouldn't be touching compressed files that don't contain NZB's. I just copied a couple RAR files into my autoload folder and they didn't get picked up.

It moved a *.gz file that contained a compressed *.img file and also has done similar with *.zip files.

It also extracted the contents of the *.gz files and renamed then *.gz.nzb (retropie-4.3-rpi2_rpi3.img.gz is the name of the file if it helps).

From my research, it doesn't seem like GZ's have a internal file structure so there's no filenames to be found when I probe inside meaning, there's no real way to know what's inside the GZ without uncompressing it.

Meaning that while I confirmed it's doing every GZ file, there's probably not much I can do about it. I can consider using the filename just for GZ's I guess.

My normal recommendation is to not make the NZB autoload folder a general dump folder.

Went from 6.60 to 6.80B13, watch topics don't update anymore... :(
(subscription active and unlimited searches remaining)

Also: displaying the server tab doesn't get remembered when closing and opening the app again.

You sure you are on B13? The server tab issue was resolved. We just put the Release Candidate up, you should try that one. It's on the Beta Page

[EDIT] Oops, was not resolved. Damn.

Watch Topics seems to be fixed now. By the way, is there a tip to make it run faster than wait 30s between each search?

Maybe it's related to the server tab issue: the UI won't remember any of the tabs I was last on (i.e. if I quit while being on Groups List I'll return to Search every time).

Last question, "loaded" NZBs from watched folders seem to be going to <NewsBinData>\Nzbs now. Is there a way to regularly purge this folder?

I've run into a problem when downloading multiple episodes of the same series from per-episode NZBs.

The actual episode file names are obfuscated, the NZB file names are of the format "series.name.s01e0x.foo.bar.more.stuff.nzb", with "x" denoting the episode number. I dump the NZB files into my NZB auto-load directory, where Newsbin successfully picks them up.

What happens is that the directories created for later episodes completely overwrite the directory for earlier episodes that have already completed downloading, despite the names differing in the episode number (i.e., NZB file names are unique)

Possibly relevant settings:
Main download folder: B:\Usenet\Chunks\
Download folder for downloads from NZBs: B:\Usenet\Chunks\$(NZBFILE)\
Unrar folder: B:\Usenet\$(NZBFILE)\

The overwritten directories are completely gone - not present in the Recycle Bin or anywhere else, as best as I can tell.

This is with 6.80B13, will verify if the just-posted RC1 still has that problem.

Another less painful issue is that the "Wish List" tab keeps disappearing between sessions. This, I've verified, still happens with RC1.

Thanks.

"Usenet" isn't your data folder is it? In the options select "Open Data Folder" and make sure "B:\Usenet" isn't what gets opened.

No, it isn't - the Data folder sits on a different drive (C:).

I just tried the same NZBs as above on RC1, and thankfully the problem seems to have gone there - no more overwritten directories/files. Still seeing the issue with the Wish List tab disappearing between Newsbin restarts.
