the last few betas have had some sort of crankiness so I want to remove NB and start fresh with 6.80.
what files do I need to keep so I dont lose all my history?

Well, the NBI file, DownloadMarker.db3 and the signature.db3 file contain history and configuration. I'm not clear how much you want to bring forward.
If you deleted the downloadsv2.db3, downloaded.db3 and the spool_v6 folder, that would start you over pretty good too. You'd have to re-download headers and this will wipe the download, failed, wish and files list.
