Hi,
Re: New logic to automatically filter out headers with posting styles that Newsbin cannot make use of. These files can only be downloaded if you have an NZB file created by the original poster.
I'm curious about how the new logic works and what criteria are used to filter out headers.
I have in place a header filter, via the Group -> Header Filter option, gleaned from posts here, that seems to stop some of the rubbish headers that spammed usenet earleir this year.
\[[0-9a-f]{10}\] \\[0-9a-f]{10}\\::[0-9a-f]{14}\.[0-9a-f]{30}\.[0-9a-f]{8}::/[0-9a-f]{12}/ \[([0-9a-f]{10}|newzNZB)\]
My understanding of how this works is that:
1) All headers are downloaded to the Import folder
2) The filter is applied as part of the import processing before the headers are loaded into the appropriate DB
3) The headers not loaded/filtered out are discarded
Do I still need my spam filter, or is the new logic currently equivalent to the above filter?
Will it hurt to leave my filter in there - e.g. duplicate or unnecessary processing?
Thanks
Stavros.
