Download all headers problem

Postby bonalymac » Thu Oct 24, 2024 9:13 am

I am trying the following

Download Special>Download all headers

a.b.sounds.mp3.christmas

It reports that there are 4,526,525 headers to download. When I then show all posts (with no filters) I see 217 items listed, with dates from 4th to 24th October 2024.

It appears that it is not downloading all headers. I cannot find any setting I may have corrupted, and a search in the Forum for "download all headers" doesn't work as the words are too common.

What else might I be doing wrong please?

Thanks

1 - What's your "storage age" set to? The vast majority of posts are from 2000+ days ago. While I still see some current posts, it's pretty sparse in comparison.

Newsbin will throw away any posts older than "Storage Age".

2 - Are all the header blocks imported? You can look in the data folder in the "import" folder to check.

3- How big is the database?

<Data Folder>spool_v6\alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.christmas

How big is the "Storage.db3"? After "Download all Headers" mine is 170 megs or so.

4 - How old are the files it's showing? If they're 5000 or more days old, it suggests import isn't finished. If it's newish files like the last couple months, it suggests "storage age" killed the headers.

When I "show all" I see 215,000 lines.

Many thanks.

Option 1 was the problem. Storage age was set to 30 days. Never gave that a thought.

Once again thanks for great help and fast service
