can't close a tab, files don't download unless bypass filter

system: slackware current, wine 1.3.2, newsbin 5.59, kernel 2.6.35.4

2 issues:

1) can't close tabs using the close button on the right side
2) when I try to download any posts (filters disabled) they are automatically sent to failed posts unless I select the bypass filters option

I have no idea what to tell you for #1. I assume there's something wrong with your Wine.

For #2, look in the logging tab and see why they're getting rejected.

There are various GUI issues with wine, for the most part a recent build will handle Newsbin enough to run reasonably. Lots of 'little ' issues though. I'm running 1.3.12 on SUSE 11.4 and I haven't seen #1 particularly, possibly it's a new wine bug. Understand that Newsbin is built for windows, you get wine usage 'for free, as is'. If wine is doing something windows isn't, it's a wine team issue.

That #2 thing is likely completely unrelated to wine, though, likely something's up with your newsbin config. Try renaming your signature.db3 file.
