While it isn't officially supported, we have many users who successfully run NewsBin under Linux with a Windows emulator (Wine is the most popular). This forum exists for you Linux guys to share your experience getting NewsBin running on Linux as well as report any strangeness that we may or may not be able to fix. DThor is the resident expert.

I have been running Newsbin betas pretty successfully under WineHQ Stable on Debian Jessie, however the latest release 6.71 Beta 1 fails to install as it detects Wine as Windows XP.
Can you advise if there is either a command line switch in the installer to bypass the check or what the installer is checking for so I can add it into Wine?
Stuart.

Just figured it out on my own, I used the latest version of Winetricks to configure Wine to report its version as Windows 7, Installer worked fine and Newsbin is running happily.

That's a good tip to know.
