Unable to post REQ to newsgroups

Sorry to ask a possibly stupid question.

Trying to post a REQ to a newsgroup, and either comes up with a 440 error (posting not allowed) or it just sits in the Downloading Files tab on newsbin which makes no sense to me. Have read the wiki and am pretty sure am doing it correctly by right clicking the group and then 'Post to Group'

Am on version 6.90.

Have also confirmed that my provider (Eweka & Frugal) has enabled posting. and also tried posting to a.b.boneless as a test and that also fails with 440 error.

This is from your news server. Some servers don't permit posting. Some servers require you to turn on posting in their control panel.

That was my first thought, but have confirmed through their support that posting is definitely enabled as per the control panel showing so.

Anything else spring to mind?

What server are you using?

That error code is telling you what the server thinks.

440 error (posting not allowed)

Did you tell them this was the error you were getting?

I'm an idiot.

Posting was enabled but was using the news.xxx.xx server name instead of the post.xxx.xx one, hence the 440 errors. Sorry for wasting your time, but thanks for the replies.

I've never heard of a "posting only" server so I guess I'm one too. Haha.
